Child-led & Play-Based
The SLP follows your child’s interests and uses activities they enjoy to connect with them. By following their lead, therapy sessions become intrinsically-motivating and meaningful to them. When we establish ourselves as authentic play partners, we form relationships that are built on trust and connection. This trust is the foundation for developing their communication skills.
Neurodiversity-Affirming
At Susan Raney Speech Therapy, a neurodiversity-affirming approach is at the core of everything we do. We recognize that autism is a neurotype–not a flaw–and celebrate each child’s unique way of experiencing the world. We prioritize meaningful connection over compliance and focus on strengths, not deficits. All forms of communication are respected, and we always presume competence. We accommodate sensory needs, foster self-advocacy skills, and respect a child’s bodily autonomy.
